Love your lashes: the 411 on what’s trending

Extensions, tinting and lifts—a multitude of services exist exclusively for your lashes. But how do you know which is right for you? And what’s the difference between each service? Read on to find out what you can expect—and to see some amazing before and after photos (performed by yours truly).

Lash tinting

If you weren’t born with jet-black eyelashes, (and you wish you were) we feel your pain and we have your answer. Lash tinting darkens your eyelashes to accentuate your natural color. We’ll apply color to both upper and lower lashes and you’ll walk away with more defined eyelashes that’ll keep their new hue for up to six weeks (the color will slowly fade as your lash life cycle naturally progresses).

Lash extensions

Eyelash extensions work much the same way as hair extensions. We’ll add the extensions one by one attaching them via an adhesive to your natural lashes. (Always remember: if you’re prone to allergic reactions or have skin concerns, alert your specialist during the consultation.) Not only will your lashes be thicker and longer, they’ll also be stronger. The extensions can last up to eight weeks, but to maintain a proper definition, we recommend touch-ups every four weeks.

Lash lifts

This service will have you ditching the mascara sooner rather than later. It’s our newest and most popular service that “lifts” your natural lashes. So how’s it work? We’ll use silicone pads to apply a solution to each individual lash. The solution helps to semi-permanently “lift” the lashes creating a fuller, darker and more defined look. The process is pretty simple, it takes about an hour and the results are ahhh-mazing (if we do say so ourselves). Not only that, with proper care, they can last anywhere from 8-12 weeks.

Aftercare is extremely important

While we’ll talk through aftercare in detail before you leave the salon, a few things are worth mentioning here. First, try to avoid getting your lashes wet for 24-48 hours. This will help your lashes to set, keeping them darker, thicker and more defined – for longer.

Next, after the initial “drying” period has passed, remember to clean your lashes daily, if possible. The particles in the air can leave bacteria, which in turn can lead to infection. If your service included a glue of some sort, dirty lashes can also loosen the bond—which would have you coming in for a touch-up sooner rather than later.
